About Sy

Dr. Sy Banerjee is Assistant Professor Marketing at the University of Michigan, Flint. He holds his PhD from the University of Rhode Island, a MBA from International Management Institute New Delhi and his undergraduate (B.Sc) in Economics from Presidency College Calcutta. His diverse work experience in marketing spans over FMCG, logistics and telecommunication industries, across the length and breadth of the Indian subcontinent. He has worked on projects

His research interests are in technology mediated behavior (internet & m-commerce, mobile advertising) and pricing. His works have been presented in various conferences including AMA, ACR, INFORMS, AJBS in the US, India and Japan. Some of his personal interests include painting, charcoal sketching, exotic cooking, movies and music. Some of art works have been selected for display at National exhibitions in Detroit, Michigan.

Research in Innovation, Internet and Mobile Commerce

His primary area of interest is consumer behavior and usage of new technologies/media such as internet and mobile spaces. Especially how individuals manage and integrate their existence in multiple (real and virtual) domains. He advises various firms on their mobile marketing practices, on developing campaign reporting, strategizing mobile advertising and maximizing ROI on Mobile interfaces. 

Teaching

His efforts in project Community One have brought together Michigan's  minority businesses with the University, developing real business projects for student assignments and adding the value of practical experience to classroom environments and also received an Annual Award by MMBDC on September 29th, 2009.
