Meeting Minutes for April 24, 2008

Meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m.

Old Business

  • Meeting minutes from March 20, 2008 were approved by Sue Dykstra, 2nd by Chris DuBois

 

Vice President- Chris DuBois

  • 4/5 Eastern Michigan Food Bank Business Club volunteer day was successful. We received a tour of the establishment by representatives after volunteering. A quorum of officers attended along with a few club members.

 

New Business

 

President

o       Business Club met all requirements in order to receive matching funds from SOM and request allocations from SGC

o       Business Club allocation request in amount of $1,112.44 was voted on and approved by SGC on 4/17/08.

o       Business Club matching funds in the amount of $1500 from SOM was approved by Dean Helmuth.

o       Voting for ALL officer positions will take place on May 16, 5:30pm Tuscola rooms, 1st floor WSW building.

Business Club Meeting Minutes

October 15, 2007

President

    • New members were introduce to the group
  • Career Fair – October 24, 2007
    • Sheet was passed around for volunteers to sign up to help the businesses set-up and take-down. Two shifts were listed. Stacey and Byron will be helping with the 1st shift.
  • Ideas of speakers for the term
    • Byron has been in touch with the CEO of Oakland County Credit Union and is waiting on a response to see if he would like to come speak.
  • Ideas for business tours
    • Byron has been in touch with Yeo and Yeo CPA firm to see if they allow student tours and is waiting on a response from them as well. Other ideas for tours included: Consulting firms or financial services (e.g. Merrill Lynch)
  • Ideas for end of the year trip
    • Las Vegas, Chicago, Toronto
  • Open Officer Positions
    • Our new treasurer is JT Schutz and we still have a vacancy for our secretary position. Byron also reminded us to keep in mind that the Vice President position will be vacant as well at the beginning of Winter semester.

    • Brittany is working on getting a date set aside for us to volunteer at the food bank. Saturdays are full so we will be getting some volunteer time during the week.

    • New ideas were brought to the floor By JT concerning trading our time to work at a local business and in return the business would donate some money to our club. Other ideas included a can drive involving setting up boxes for cans around campus and emptying them when needed.

November 16, 2006

President’s Report

  • Coats for Kids we took pictures; there are still a few boxes around; collection is as follows:

Coats: 57, Scarves: 8, Gloves: 5, Hats: 5

  • Campus activity will be U of M homecoming on Saturday the 18th. We need 3 officers: Michele, Cassaundra and Ghassan
  • Business Library- Career Development committee: Ghassan, Sean and Jessie. They will be collecting money for this project
  • Speaker event Terry Munley from LaSalle Bank on
    • November 29th at 5:30 in 3148 WSW.
    • At least 15 people are expected.
    • Haven’t heard from Plante Moran, if nothing soon, pursue something in Grand Blanc
